AVALANCHE ANDRETTI FORMULA E
팀 소개
Andretti Formula E heads into its fourth campaign in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with a new title partner - Avalanche. Jake Dennis returns with American Oliver Askew joining the fold for Season 8.
The outfit had partnered with BMW - a fixture of Formula E from the championship's inception to the end of Season 7. Alongside providing the entire fleet of safety and officials cars, the German car giant became a full manufacturer works team ahead of the 2018/19 season, when it partnered up with Andretti Formula E.
BMW provided the Andretti outfit with technical assistance during the 2017/18 season, where Antonio Felix da Costa secured the team's best result of a sixth-place finish in the first race of the season in Hong Kong. Despite the promising start, the team went on to finish last overall in the championship with just 24 points. Becoming a full manufacturer team ahead of the 2018/19 season, the team fielded Da Costa and newcomer Alex Sims behind the wheel of its Gen2 challenger, the BMW iFE.18.
The team and car made its debut appearance in pre-season testing in Valencia ahead of the opening race of the 2018/19 season with drivers Antonio de Felix Costa and Alexander Sims behind the wheel. Rounding off its first campaign as a works team with a fifth place finish, BMW signed former Dragon driver Maximilian Guenther for the 2019/20 season while retaining Alex Sims for a second season.
Guenther pipped Sims in the Drivers' Championship, finishing ninth, with victories in Santiago and Round 8 at Tempelhof. The German's four non-finishes - including the loss of a podium in Berlin for overtaking under the safety car - ultimately hampered his outright finishing position. Sims, meanwhile, closed out the season, and his time with BMW, in 13th spot.
The team ran it so close in Season 7. Rookie Jake Dennis was undoubtedly one of the season's star drivers, outshining another young hotshot in teammate Guenther with a victory in Valencia - where the Brit managed his energy beyond all expectations to win from the front - and another on home soil in London.
A technical glitch unceremoniously brought his title charge to an end in the final round. Without that, he could well have pipped Nyck de Vries to top spot. Third was mighty impressive nonetheless, and BMW i bows out of Formula E for now in the style we've long been accustomed to; with the taste of the winners' Moet and Chandon still fresh.
Dennis returns and will have his eyes on top spot in Season 8, while American Oliver Askew joins with IndyCar experience under his belt - flying the flag for the USA.

Jake DENNIS [ Jake DENNIS, #27 ]
Jake Dennis is back with Andretti as the team welcomes aboard a new title partner, Avalanche and a new driver in Oliver Askew for Season 8. The Brit took it right to the wire in 2020/21 - missing out on the Drivers’ World Championship at the last; robbed of a final push due to a technical issue. Can he do it in his second season? There’s no reason why not, he says - Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ) did!
Dennis joined the then-BMW i Andretti Motorsport, now Avalanche Andretti Formula E outfit, after earning the prized factory seat with an impressive performance in the marque's driver selection evaluation ahead of the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Dennis entered the motorsport world in 2007 with a successful start winning multiple British and World karting championships.
Following this, Dennis made the step up into single-seaters in 2011. He quickly got up to speed with a dominant performance in the inaugural InterSteps Championship, taking the title with eight wins, seven poles and 16 podiums.
The Brit continued this championship-winning progress in 2012, claiming the Formula Renault Northern European Cup on his first attempt. This performance was enough to earn him the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award - a top accolade in British motorsport that ranks fellow Formula E drivers Oliver Turvey, Alexander Sims, Oliver Rowland and commentator Dario Franchitti amongst its winners.
The next season saw Dennis continue in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. His best finish in 2013 was in the non-championship Pau Trophy, where he placed third around the fast but technical Pau road circuit in France.
Dennis continued up the single-seater ladder with a move up to FIA Formula 3 European Championship. After a bedding-in season in 2014, the following year saw the Brit finish third place overall behind Felix Rosenqvist and Antonio Giovinazzi in the highly-competitive series, claiming six wins, six pole positions and 16 podiums. He also claimed a top ten finish at the famous Macau Grand Prix.
For 2016 Dennis competed in the GP3 Series, and victories at Monza and Sepang would net him fourth overall in his debut season. That year also saw Dennis' first experiences in sportscars, driving for G-Drive in the FIA World Endurance Championship which included an appearance for the team in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
For 2017 and 2018, Dennis displayed his adaptability by racing across a variety of motorsport disciplines, jumping from single-seater in Formula 3 to sportscars in the Blancpain GT Series and the ADAC GT Masters.
Demonstrating his ability in the GT ranks gained Dennis a seat with Aston Martin for their DTM campaign in 2019. In the same year, he also stormed to pole position in the famed Bathurst 12 Hours and finished second in the gruelling endurance race.
Since 2018, Dennis has fulfilled test and development duties for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. With no major racing action for Dennis in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, this role kept him busy as he conducted on-track and simulator tests for the Formula 1 team.
Despite limited races under his belt in 2020, Dennis was invited to test with BMW's Formula E outfit. After impressing through a series of trials against other more experienced drivers, the 25-year-old was chosen to join Maximilian Guenther for the 2020/21 season in what is the youngest line-up on the grid.
Dennis was undoubtedly one of the season's star drivers, outshining another young hotshot in teammate Maximilian Guenther with a victory in Valencia - where the Brit managed his energy beyond all expectations to win from the front - and another on home soil in London.
A technical glitch unceremoniously brought his title charge to an end in the final round. Without that, he could well have pipped Nyck de Vries to top spot. Third was mighty impressive nonetheless, and he sees no reason why he can’t go better still in Season 8.

Oliver ASKEW [ Oliver ASKEW, #28 ]
Oliver Askew, a Florida native, began karting at the age of eight and moved up both the American and European ranks before making the jump to cars in 2015. After winning the Team USA Scholarship in 2016, Askew climbed the Road to Indy ladder, winning the USF 2000 Championship in 2017.
With his championship scholarship, Askew moved into the Indy Pro 2000 Championship quickly followed by another step up joining Andretti Autosport’s Indy Lights team in 2019. He claimed seven wins, seven poles and 15 podiums on his way to win the 2019 Indy Lights Championship with Andretti.
Askew made his IndyCar debut in 2020 competing in 12 races and scoring one podium. Most recently, the young American recorded starts in both IndyCar and IMSA, sealing a win, five top-five finishes, and six top-10 finishes throughout his time on track in 2021.
He maintains his close ties with the Andretti stable to join Avalanche Andretti Formula E for Season 8, alongside Jake Dennis.

DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT
팀 소개
DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT has been a mainstay of Formula E since the inaugural 2014/15 season, competing in every race to date. Founded by Jay Penske in 2007, the outfit is the only all-American team on the grid.
With a history dating back to the first Formula E race in Beijing, 2014, the team entered the all-electric series after seven years competing in IndyCar. Founded by Jay Penske in 2007, DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT is headquartered in Los Angeles, California – the largest single metropolitan EV market in the world – with additional operations at Silverstone in the UK.
Getting off to a strong start, the team finished runners-up to Renault e.dams in the inaugural season before dropping to fourth the following year. For the third season of Formula E (2016/17) the team wound up eighth, scoring 41 points over the course of the season, and won Formula E’s first foray into Esports with its victory in the Visa Vegas E-Race. With Jose “Pechito” Maria Lopez and Jerome d'Ambrosio behind the wheel for 2017/18, the team finished a tough season in 11th spot in the Teams' running.
For the 2018/19 season, the team partnered with Italian fashion house Geox to be called the GEOX DRAGON. The newly branded outfit paired front man Jose-Maria Lopez with rookie Maximilian Gunther as they challenged for the title in the fifth season behind the wheel of the new Gen2 Penske EV-3. In the most challenging season to date, the team finished its fifth campaign tenth in the team standings without a podium finish.
For GEOX DRAGON's sixth season in the series, the team signed former World Endurance Car Champion Brendon Hartley and former Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler test and reserve driver Nico Muller. After completing the first five rounds of the season, Hartley and the team decided to part ways, with test and reserve driver Sergio Sette Camara his replacement.
The team ran under the DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT banner in Season 7 with Sette Camara and Mueller making their return. Frederik Rasmussen won the 2021 Formula E Accelerate Esports series racing for DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT, scoring enough points for the Team to finish second in the Accelerate Teams’ standings.
The American outfit showed pace and promise from the off, with Sette Camara and Mueller outstripping their Season 6 points haul inside two rounds, via a pair of top five finishes in Diriyah.
Mueller went better still with maiden silverware and second spot in Valencia but a tough mid-season spell with non-scores all-round until a pair of top 10 finishes in London left the squad 11th - with Joel Eriksson joining the fold latterly in place of Mueller. Unlocking that pace on a more regular basis will be the squad's task in Season 8 as former Formula 1 star Antonio Giovinazzi joins the fold from Ferrari’s stable of drivers alongside the returning Sette Camara.

Sérgio SETTE CÂMARA [ Sérgio SETTE CÂMARA, #7 ]
JBrazilian single-seater hotshot Sergio Sette Camara continues with DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT for the 2021/22 season, having stepped into the seat full-time in Season 7.
Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Sergio Sette Camara rose through the karting ranks in his home country before stepping up to race in Formula 3, first in Brazil before making the journey across the Atlantic to race in Europe in 2014.
Sette Camara is no stranger to the trials of city street circuits. The Brazilian driver made his debut at the gruelling Macau Grand Prix in 2015, his first attempt saw him finish down in 22nd, but demonstrated his potential by smashing the lap record by an impressive 1.5 seconds. In his next two appearances, his best finish was third in 2016.
2016 also saw Sette Camara join the ranks of the Red Bull Junior Team, as the Brazilian driver continued to flourish in his ascension up the single-seater racing ladder as he climbed up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
In his rookie season in Formula 2, Sette Camara ended 2017 in 12th and scored his first win alongside two podiums. The following year he continued his improvement with eight podium finishes on the way to sixth in the standings.
Last season saw his best overall finish in Formula 2, claiming two wins, three poles and eight podiums to end the 2019 season in fourth.
Alongside his role for the all-American Dragon outfit, Sette Camara is the Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri’s reserve driver for the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Before making his debut in the six-race finale of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Sette Camara represented Dragon in the 2020 Marrakesh Rookie Test, ending the session with the second-fastest time.
Following his graduation to a race seat for the Berlin season-finale, Sette Camara has been rewarded with a full-time drive with DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT for the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Fourth in the opening race weekend in Diriyah was his season high, and the Brazilian will look to marry pace with consistency in his second full Formula E campaign in Season 8 - alongside DRAGON’s new signing Antonio Giovinazzi.

DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT
Antonio GIOVINAZZI [ Antonio GIOVINAZZI, #99 ]
DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT has added Antonio Giovinazzi to its driver line-up to partner the returning Sergio Sette Camara at the team for the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Giovinazzi heads to Formula E from a spell in Formula 1 with Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and is a long-term fixture at Scuderia Ferrari, as one of the team's stable of drivers.
The Italian made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2017 before moving to Alfa Romeo for a three-year spell between 2019 and the end of the current campaign. The 27-year-old has 59 starts to his name and has amassed 19 points with the team.
Giovinazzi returns to Formula E proper in Season 8 after a taste of the fully-electric, net carbon zero motor racing championship back in 2018 at the Marrakesh Rookie Test with Virgin, where he placed narrowly behind Season 7 champion Nyck de Vries on the timesheets.
Can the Italian make the transition to all-electric motorsport? And will he put on a show in Rome in-front of a passionate home support?

António Félix DA COSTA [ António Félix DA COSTA, #13 ]
As one of the longest standing drivers in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Antonio Felix da Costa has driven in every season to-date. After three campaigns with the BMW-backed Andretti outfit, da Costa joined reigning champions DS TECHEETAH for the 2019/20 season and immediately made his mark, storming to the title. He couldn’t repeat the feat in Season 7, but signing off Gen2 on a high is the aim.
With six seasons of all-electric single seater racing under his belt, reigning champion Antonio Felix da Costa is one of the most experienced Formula E drivers on the grid.
Da Costa grew up in family of racers and started karting at the age of nine, competing in a number of domestic series in his native Portugal. In 2007, he progressed into single-seaters, in Formula Renault 2.0, and after catching the eye in both Formula 3 Euro Series and GP3, he would eventually join the Red Bull Junior Team. After making his Formula 1 test debut for Force India in 2010, the Portuguese went on to pilot four of legendary car designer Adrian Newey's title-winning Red Bull Racing machines.
Da Costa has been a fixture in Formula E since Season 1, starting out his journey as a driver for Team Aguri in 2014, where he raced for two seasons - securing an early maiden victory in his debut campaign in Buenos Aires.
The Lisbon-born driver moved to American outfit Andretti for two seasons, benefiting from the team's technical partnership with BMW in 2017/18. Andretti's technical partnership with the German marque blossomed into a full manufacturer effort, with team newly-christened BMW i Andretti Motorsport for Season 5, with Da Costa and teammate Alexander Sims announced as the team's debut driver line up. The top step of the podium had proved elusive since his first taste of the winner's Moet & Chandon champagne in 2014/15, until his win at the opening round of the 2018/19 season in Saudi Arabia.
He mounted a title charge with BMW as the season went on, eventually falling by the wayside, and Da Costa made his move to pastures new for Season 6 as he joined DS TECHEETAH alongside double champion Jean-Eric Vergne. Both drivers were gunning for the crown, but it was Da Costa that made the most headway, eventually storming to a record-equalling three wins on the spin between Round 5 in Marrakesh and Round 7 in Berlin - enough to steer him to the Drivers' Championship in dominant style.
With competition hotter than ever in Season 7, da Costa was the man with the target on his back. A single podium in Diriyah was the only silverware the Portuguese could accrue in the first half of a hard-fought campaign.
Three non-scores - including a disqualification for running out of usable energy having led an extraordinary encounter in Valencia - was not what the DS driver would have hoped for but a statement victory via a last lap overtaking manoeuvre in Monaco provided a season-high.
Can the Season 6 champ push for a second Formula E title in 2021/22?

DS TECHEETAH
Jean-Éric VERGNE [ Jean-Éric VERGNE, #25 ]
Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne made history after becoming the first back-to-back champion in Formula E following his title-winning campaigns in 2017/18 and 2018/19. He's looking for number three, returning alongside reigning champion and teammate Antonio Felix da Costa with DS TECHEETAH in 2021/22.
With a long history in Formula E dating back to the inaugural 2014/15 season, Jean-Eric Vergne - more affectionately known as JEV - is the only driver in the series to have achieved more than a single title, and back-to-back championship titles, both of which he claimed with current team DS TECHEETAH.
JEV's motorsport career started earlier than most, as he entered his first karting race in 2000 aged just four years old. Progressing to single-seater racing with Formula Renault in 2007, it wasn't long until the Frenchman secured support from Red Bull and was admitted into its Junior Team.
With the outfit's backing, he won the 2010 British F3 championship before making his Formula 1 test debut for Toro Rosso that same year. He finished second in the Formula Renault 3.5 series in 2011, which earned him the opportunity to test with Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 as he earned promotion to its sister squad - Scuderia Toro Rosso. Over the next three seasons, Vergne took part in 58 grands prix, scoring 51 points and securing a best finish of sixth.
After a controversial exit in Formula 1 in 2014, JEV entered Formula E with Andretti for the series' debut season. Despite a stunning debut with the American squad, the Frenchman made a move to Virgin Racing for his second campaign. Although the switch allowed him to add to his pole tally, victory still proved elusive for Vergne.
Another change of scenary came for his third campaign as he linked up with TECHEETAH. It wasn't until the final round of the season that he finally made his breakthrough with an emotional maiden win in Montreal. Remaining with the team for the 2017/18 season, JEV continued to soar. With four wins and six podiums, he assembled a title tilt which he converted into his first Formula E Drivers' Championship at the New York City season finale.
Intent on retaining his crown, Vergne embarked on his fifth season in Formula E with his newly manufacturer-backed squad DS TECHEETAH, as the French automotive brand joined the fold. Despite a potent powertrain, JEV battled his way through a rollercoaster season which saw the title fight head right down to the wire in the New York City finale.
With four title contenders in with a chance of scooping top honours, it was Vergne who held his nerve to emerge victorious from the battle in Brooklyn - making history as the series' first double champion. The Frenchman aimed to make it a hat-trick in Season 6, but new teammate Antonio Felix da Costa quashed his dream to seal the title for himself.
Vergne's as fired up as any driver, and with title-winning machinery beneath him, he has fire in the belly and as good a chance as any of taking top honours come the final chequered flag of the campaign. With one of the most competitive line-ups in motorsport history standing in his way in Season 7, though, and the reigning champion in the garage next-door, it won't be easy.
Vergne wound up 10th, with

After returning to Formula E in 2018/19, Robin Frijns is now embarking on his fourth season with Envision Racing, again alongside Nick Cassidy. Together, the pair challenge for the Teams' title as privateers up against a wealth of manufacturers.
Frijns wasn’t born into racing. In-fact, it was a family friend who gave the Dutchman his first experience in a kart. After travelling to a few races and experiencing the smells and sounds of racing it became obvious to Frijns that he wanted to take racing up more competitively. He was given a quad bike to play with in the garden and was forever being told to get off it by his mother after ruining the garden, a young Frijns was getting the feel for driving.
He progressed through the single-seater ranks and won titles in a number of junior categories including Formula BMW Europe and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. He took the 2012 World Series by Renault 3.5 title at his first attempt, with the last driver to achieve such a feat being Robert Kubica in 2005.
The Dutch driver and GP2 race-winner has been recognised for his talent throughout his career testing for both Sauber and Red Bull Racing at the Formula 1 young driver test in Abu Dhabi.
In 2013, Frijns joined Sauber as its test driver, and took part in a partial season of GP2 picking up one victory and two podium finishes. Frijns later joined Caterham F1 as a test driver for 2014. Between then and now he has raced in Blancpain GT and, in 2018, the DTM series with Audi Sport.
After racing for Andretti in Formula E's 2015/16 and 2016/17 campaigns, Frijns made a comeback to the series with Envision Virgin Racing in 2018/19, taking the place of Alex Lynn.
Frijns rounded off an impressive campaign in fourth place in the standings, claiming his second win of Season 5 in New York finale, having taken to the top step in Paris in Round 8. For the 2019/20 season, Frijns once again piloted Envision Virgin Racing's Audi-powered Gen2 challenger alongside British driver Sam Bird and ended Season 7 on a high in Berlin with four Super Pole appearances and a pair of podiums on the way to 12th in the Drivers' table.
Frijns was a season-long pacesetter after podiums in Diriyah and Monaco but the Dutchman slipped to fourth in the Drivers' running at the last. Given how tight the competition was in 2020/21, though, that mean the wound up just 10 points shy of eventual winner Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ).
For 2021/22 he returns with Envision Racing alongside Nick Cassidy, on the hunt for more silverware and possibly even a title challenge.

Nick CASSIDY [ Nick CASSIDY, #37 ]
Rising star and Japanese Super Formula and Super GT champion Nick Cassidy made a strong start to his Formula E career in 2020/21 with Envision Racing and there was certainly plenty of pace and promise to build on for the New Zealander in Season 8.
A true racing renaissance man, Nick Cassidy's racing career has seen him successfully jump from GT cars to single-seaters, and he has already demonstrated his speed for the Envision Virgin Racing in the annual Marrakesh Rookie Test.
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Cassidy started racing at a young age, competing in karting at just six years old, kicking off a successful career in his home country and taking on the likes of future Formula E winner Mitch Evans.
Graduating to single-seaters, Cassidy set off with a winning debut in the Formula First New Zealand series in 2008, before eventually becoming one of the most successful drivers in the history of the Toyota Racing Series.
After back-to-back championship victories in the Toyota Racing Series, Cassidy travelled to Europe to take on the FIA Formula 3 European and Renault 2.0 championships. The New Zealander also got his first sampling of street racing with an impressive third-place finish in his first-ever appearance at the challenging Macau Grand Prix.
Cassidy then branched out into Japanese motorsport and dual driving duties in the Super Formula and Super GT championships. Driving for the legendary TOM'S racing outfit, the Kiwi continued his rise in Japan taking the Super GT title in 2017, following this with Drivers' Championship honours in the 2019 Super Formula season.
After a star appearance topping the timesheets at the 2020 Marrakesh Rookie Test, Cassidy jumps back into the seat with Envision Virgin Racing for his debut in the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Cassidy consistently impressed and a storming second half of his season yielded two trips to the rostrum of his own, in Puebla and New York City on his way to 15 in the Drivers’ standings. Season 8 should yield more progress as the Kiwi continues alongside Robin Frijns at the team.

Having joined the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Season 3, Jaguar TCS Racing heads into its fifth campaign in the series with its new Gen2 Jaguar I-Type 5, wielded by Sam Bird and Mitch Evans.
With one of the richest histories in motorsport of any manufacturer, dating back to 1948, the British manufacturer revived its motorsport programme to showcase its range of electric cars with its entry into Formula E in 2016.
For its inaugural season in the championship, the team signed Adam Carroll and New Zealander Mitch Evans to the team. After a difficult season, the team finished at the back of the pack, accruing just 27 points over the 12 races. For its second campaign, the team drafted in inaugural ABB FIA Formula E Champion, Nelson Piquet Jr. to partner Mitch Evans, who remained at the team for a second season after his impressive Formula E debut. Finishing the 2017/18 season in sixth place, the team improved its standing in the series but victory still proved elusive for the British squad. Mid-way through the 2018/19 season, however, Evans clinched an emotional maiden victory for the team in Rome after battling for the win with DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer. Prior to the victory, Nelson Piquet Jr. parted ways with the team while British driver Alex Lynn was drafted in to take his place and partner Evans for the remainder of the season.
Now with over three years worth of learnings from Formula E behind it, the British car maker is applying it's electric vehicle know-how to its first EV, the Jaguar I-Pace. After making its first production appearance at the 2017 Mexico City E-Prix, driven by Kiwi driver Mitch Evans, the team's efforts in the series continue to help test, develop and refine the latest technology available to the next generation of Jaguar's all-electric cars. Shortly after the production car broke cover, Formula E's first official support series, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy made its debut on the streets of Saudi Arabia, marking the start of its inaugural season, which came to a conclusion in New York City alongside the 2018/19 season of Formula E.
Now entering its fourth season in Formula E, the British team calls on Mitch Evans and British driver James Calado as they get behind the wheel of their Gen2 Jaguar I-Type 4 cars. Going up against the most competitive line up in motorsport, Evans demonstrated Jaguar's strength in the early portion of the season, taking the Julius Baer Pole Position in Santiago and followed this with a commanding victory in Mexico City. A drop in form in the six-race season-finale in Berlin saw the British team drop to seventh in the teams' standings.
Jaguar Racing headed into the Season 7 finale with both drivers in with a shout of the World Championship title. Bird won in Diriyah on debut for the famous British marque and produced a stunning zero to hero drive in New York City after a practice shunt. A blank on home soil in London put Bird on the back foot and with what looked like a little too much to do in Berlin. A technical issue in Round 14 put paid to his title shot.
Teammate Mitch Evans was right in the hunt with the Kiwi leading the charge for the team in the Drivers' title chase after teammate Bird's retirement in Round 14. He looked to be in the box seat having taken third in race one, and given he'd qualified well ahead of his nearest championship rivals as well as standings leader and eventual World Champion Nyck de Vries. A technical issue prevented his getaway from the line, though, and abruptly halted a potential run at the title proper.
Five podiums for Evans was a strong return, and both drivers and Team Principal James Barclay are more than happy with the progress made in Season 7. All eyes on Season 8…

Sam BIRD [ Sam BIRD, #10 ]
A race winner in every season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Sam Bird starts his latest campaign in the all-electric street racing series hunting for what his ability and record dictates is an overdue maiden Drivers' title. Can the Jaguar TCS Racing driver, and Formula E stalwart, get his hands on the top prize in Gen2’s swansong season?
Bird first appeared on the karting scene in 2002 aged 15. Following a successful two-year stint racing karts competitively in the UK and Europe, the British driver won a scholarship to race in the inaugural season of Formula BMW with Carlin Motorsport, ending the year with three wins as one of the top rookie drivers.
Bird remained in Formula BMW for a second season and eventually finishing as championship runner-up. Joining forces with Mercedes F1 for the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, the Brit was named as their Reserve Driver for the 2011 season, helping the team with testing throughout the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Joining the ABB FIA Formula E Championship for its inaugural year in 2014, Bird was signed to Virgin Racing. Having driven for the team in every Formula E race to date, the British driver secured his best overall finish of third in the 2017/18 season, after challenging for the drivers' title against DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne and Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi.
Between the first and the fourth season, the British driver found himself in the final round of the series with a slim mathematical chance of winning the championship that ultimately didn't come to pass. Still searching for that all-important championship title, Bird finished his most recent all-electric campaign ninth after an underwhelming campaign with Envision Virgin Racing.
In his sixth season, the Brit once again partnered with teammate Robin Frijns. After exploding out of the blocks with a victory at the first round in Diriyah, Bird saw his efforts marred by bad luck, with two DNFs in opening five races. Unable to recapture that glory, the Brit made one more appearance on the podium taking third place in the opening race of six in Berlin and ended the season in 10th.
It was all-change for Bird heading into his seventh season, with a switch to Jaguar Racing.
The Brit won in Diriyah on debut for the famous British marque and produced a stunning zero to hero drive in New York City after a practice shunt. A heartbreaking blank on home soil in London put Bird on the back foot and with what looked like a little too much to do in Berlin. A technical issue in Round 14 finally put paid to his title shot. Nevertheless, the pace and promise is undoubtedly there to reprise their charge in Season 8.

Mitch EVANS [ Mitch EVANS, #9 ]
Having joined Jaguar TCS Racing ahead of their debut season, Kiwi racer Mitch Evans remains with the legendary British motorsport outfit for his fifth campaign in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. He showed plenty of pace and promise in Season 6, went so close to the Drivers’ crown in Season 7, and will be aiming to push on a step further in 2021/22.
Evans started his motorsport career in karts at the age of six and won the NZ Grand Prix at the age of 16. Mentored by seasoned racer Mark Webber, the young driver went on to win the 2012 GP3 title. Moving to GP2 in 2013 and at aged just 18, while still a rookie, he became the youngest driver in GP2 history to stand on the podium after finishing third in Sepang, Malaysia.
Starting his all-electric racing career in 2016 ahead of Panasonic Jaguar Racing's debut season, the New Zealand driver's first season was marked by a fine fourth place finish in Mexico. Remaining with the team for a second season (2017/18), Evans put in a number of promising performances including Jaguar's first podium finish in Hong Kong and a Julius Baer Pole Position in Zurich. Despite no overall win that season, Evans outdrove his teammate Nelson Piquet Jr, finishing two places above the Brazilian and sixth overall.
For the 2018/19 season, Evans remained with the British racing squad. Piloting the team's Gen2 Jaguar I-Type 3, the Kiwi driver secured both his and Jaguar's first Formula E victory in Rome. Coming into the final round in New York City, Evans was amongst eight drivers in contention for the title but fell short after a collision with Audi's Lucas di Grassi in the final race and ended the year in fifth.
Now in his third season, Evans continues with Panasonic Jaguar Racing alongside British rookie James Calado. The pair will get behind the wheel of the British marque's new I-Type 4 as they challenge for the 2019/20 Formula E title.
Evans bounced back from a slow start in opening double-header Diriyah to become an early title contender in 2019/20. The Kiwi driver followed up a podium finish in Santiago with a commanding victory in Mexico City, and despite a qualifying mishap in Marrakesh he flew through the field from the back of the grid to finish in sixth.
With the season recommencing with six races in Berlin, after racing was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, Evans and Jaguar didn't maintain their earlier form and dropped down the order in the final standings.
Continuing with the team for a fifth campaign, Evans will be looking to regain his form from the start of last season. The Kiwi will be joined by Sam Bird for the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, bringing together two successful Formula E stars in one of the strongest line-ups on the grid.
The Kiwi led the charge for the team in the Drivers' title chase after teammate Bird's retirement in Round 14. He looked to be in the box seat having taken third in race one, and given he'd qualified well ahead of his nearest championship rivals as well as standings leader and eventual World Champion Nyck de Vries. A technical issue prevented his getaway from the line, though, and abruptly halted a potential run at the title proper.
He’s been there or thereabouts for some time now. Can Evans hit the top in Season 8?

Mahindra Racing has competed in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since Season 1, representing the Indian car giant on a global sporting scale in single-seater motor racing.
Formula E is Indian car giant Mahindra’s first foray into international single-seater racing, and it has been committed to the series since its inaugural campaign. The company is a manufacturer of electric cars, and utilises its competition in the championship as a fast-paced test-bed to develop and refine its groundbreaking electric vehicle technology through its 'Race to Road' programme.
The team scored its breakthrough win in the 2016/17 campaign and in 2017/18, went on to score two further victories thanks to Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist, who raced alongside German driver Nick Heidfeld.
In the 2017/18 season, the team got off to a strong start before technical issues reduced Felix Rosenqvist's title hopes to nothing more than a distant dream. The team finished fourth overall, one place behind where it finished at the end of 2016/17.
In Season 5, the team was fronted by long-standing Formula E, and former Dragon driver Jerome d’Ambrosio as well as rookie driver Pascal Wehrlein. Another victory followed as d'Ambrosio scooped a win in Marrakesh, and was denied a second of the season by in heartbreaking fashion in Mexico City as Wehrlein saw the winner's Moet & Chandon champagne stolen from his grasp at the last by Lucas di Grassi just meters from the finish line.
After a strong season Season 5, Mahindra headed into the 2019/20 campaign with the new M6Electro. Jerome D'Ambrosio closed out a two-year stint with the team with 16th in the standings and four top ten finishes over the season, seeing him edge former team-mate Pascal Wehrlein's Berlin replacement Alex Lynn by just a point. Lynn's exploits at Tempelhof were impressive. Three Super Pole appearances were backed up with good points in the final three rounds on the way to 17th in the Drivers' table.
Such was the intensely competitive nature of Season 7 that Mahindra found itself down in ninth spot in the Teams' table. A stunning maiden win on home soil for Alex Lynn - as well as an expert suplex by Team Principal Dilbagh Gill in celebration in the pit-lane - crowned a glorious weekend for the team in London. A string of five retirements in 11 races stunted Alexander Sims' progress after an encouraging podium in Rome. He wound up ninth with Lynn finishing the season 12th in the Drivers' running thanks to podiums in New York and Valencia, on top of that victory in the UK capital.
It’s an all-British line-up again for the team in Season 8, with Oliver Rowland joining Alexander Sims for 2021/22

Alexander SIMS [ Alexander SIMS, #29 ]
Alexander Sims embarked on a new journey with Mahindra Racing for 2020/21 and returns for Season 8 with the Indian outfit. The Brit scored a debut victory in Season 6 and became the first driver to claim three consecutive Julius Baer Pole Positions, following a hat-trick starting in New York City in 2018/19 and then in the Diriyah double-header last season.
Sims graduated to Formula E after years as a BMW works driver in GT racing, where he raced with his former teammate Antonio Felix da Costa.
Starting his racing career in karts in 1998, Sims went on to clinch the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award for promising young British drivers ten years later. The following year, the British driver progressed to Formula 3, where he started to combine single-seater driving with GT and sportscar racing in series such as Blancpain Endurance, British GT and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Making his debut in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship ahead of the 2018/19 season for BMW i Andretti Motorsport, the British driver set the fastest times during pre-season testing for two out of the three days. With a self-declared interest in renewable energy and electric cars, Sims is well placed to race for a manufacturer that prides itself on it's hybrid and all-electric cars.
After a successful debut season, which saw the Brit clinch his first podium in the all-electric series in the final race of the 2018/19 season, Sims continued with BMW for a second season, this time alongside Maximilian Guenther. The Brit recommenced his rise in the all-electric with a streak of Julius Baer Pole Positions in Diriyah and his debut win around the desert circuit.
For 2020/21, Sims jumped across to Mahindra Racing, but a string of five retirements in 11 races stunted his progress after an encouraging podium in Rome. He wound up ninth in the standings and will be aiming to see out the Gen2 era on a high.

Oliver ROWLAND [ Oliver ROWLAND, #30 ]
Oliver Rowland heads to pastures new to complete another all-British driver line-up alongside Alexander Sims at Indian outfit Mahindra Racing, following three seasons with Nissan e.dams.
Starting his career in karting at the age of seven, Rowland spent a decade racing in various series around the United Kingdom before progressing to Formula Renault, taking a place on the grid of the 2010 Formula Renault UK Winter Series with CRS Racing. At the same time, the British driver received funding from the Racing Steps Foundation, which helped him graduate into single-seater racing.
Moving to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013, Rowland finished his campaign in fourth with seven podium finishes, before taking the championship title in 2015 with Fortec Motorsports. That same year, he made his debut in Formula E with Mahindra Racing, filling in for driver Nick Heidfield in the Punta del Este E-Prix where he finished 13th.
After making his debut in GP2 in Silverstone the same year, Rowland competed in the series for two seasons, finishing third overall in 2017. Entering into Formula One in 2017, Rowland was signed to the role of development driver to the Renault F1 team.
In 2018 the Sheffield-born driver was confirmed as Williams Martini Racing's official Junior Driver ahead of securing a full-time seat with Nissan e.dams.
Joining Formula E full-time after one outing for Mahindra in the 2015/16 season, Rowland partnered with Sebastien Buemi for the team's debut season. Finishing second in the teams' championship after six podium finishes, six pole positions and 16 Super Pole qualifying appearances, the team ended the season with its first ever victory during the final race weekend in New York, which went to Rowland's teammate Buemi.
In his second season with Nissan e.dams, Rowland put in a consistent run of point-scoring finishes across 2019/20 that culminated in a debut victory at the penultimate round of the season in the final Berlin double-header.
Heading into his third season in all-electric street racing, Rowland continues his strong partnership with Nissan e.dams alongside Sebastien Buemi.
Season 7 was a slow burn, with bad luck curtailing front-running pace - certainly for the Brit. Rowland rounded off with another podium at Tempelhof, adding to silverware in Puebla. Converting his London DNF after that tangle with Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) could well have seen Rowland trouble the standings' top three.
The fast Brit will be aiming to maintain his positive progress as he aims for more silverware, and possible a championship challenge in Season 8.

Mercedes-EQ started a radical new chapter with a grand entry into all-electric street racing in Season 6. After closing out their rookie campaign with a debut victory and third in the Teams' standings, the team set out in 2020/21 with a clear eye on the title and duly delivered, with Nyck de Vries sealing top spot at the last. De Vries will set about defending his title in Season 8, returning alongside Stoffel Vandoorne as the legendary German marque searches for double Teams’ and Drivers’ crowns.
With a motorsport history dating back to 1894, when Mercedes-Benz competed in the very first motor race between Paris and Rouen. The motorsport masters now sit among motorsport’s future in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
With a strong racing pedigree outside of Formula E, including six constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ titles in the hybrid era of Formula 1, the marque has also enjoyed success in German touring cars (DTM) and sportscar racing worldwide. Few names in the sport can claim to be more successful.
Marking its first year as a full works team, the team graduated out of the HWA Racelab outfit, which competed in the 2018/19 season of the championship. Finishing ninth overall, HWA claimed one podium in 13 races with drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Gary Paffett.
After completing its reconnaissance season in Formula E, Affalterbach-based developer HWA continued to take responsibility for managing the Mercedes cars on race weekends, while Ian James took up the post of team principal in 2019/20.
In the opening Diriyah double-header, Vandoorne romped to the podium with two third-place finishes. Between the Belgian and his teammate Nyck de Vries, the pair demonstrated rapid pace across the season, but some teething trouble meant results didn't quite match the potential. Third in the standings, and a statement one-two with Vandoorne leading de Vries home in the Berlin season finale, augured well.
In 2020/21, de Vries flew out of the blocks in Diriyah - striding to victory in Formula E's first ever night race, and the series' opening race as an FIA World Championship.
He topped every session in Round 1 and set the tone for a strong campaign. Victory in Valencia and a double podium in London followed and the Dutchman sealed the title at the last on Mercedes’ home soil in Berlin - with Vandoorne’s Rome race win and a podium in the finale ensuring the marque took the Teams’ crown.
The pair return in Season 8, and will hunt down a double-double.

STOFFEL VANDOORNE [ STOFFEL VANDOORNE, #5 ]
Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne embarks on his fourth campaign in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with Mercedes-EQ, having helped the marque on its way to the Teams’ World Championship alongside Drivers’ champion Nyck de Vries in Season 7. With a bit more look, Vandoorne will feel it could quite easily have been him.
With a wealth of racing experience behind him, the Belgian driver entered into the all-electric street racing series in 2018 with HWA Racelab, adding to an already impressive motorsport career. For the 2019/20 campaign, Vandoorne transitioned to the newly-christened Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team as Mercedes' manufacturer involvement fully crystallised.
Vandoorne's racing career started at the age of six, competing in kart championships. With several victories to his name, the Belgian's breakthrough moment came in 2008 when he clinched the championship in that year's Belgian KF2 season.
The following year marked the start of Vandoorne's international racing career before he progressed to the F4 Eurocup in 2010, winning in his debut season. In 2013, the Belgian driver was brought into the McLaren Young Driver Programme before he was announced as McLaren Mercedes' official reserve driver in 2014.
Alongside his Formula 1 role, Vandoorne raced in GP2 Series for the French squad ART Grand Prix. After a successful first season with the team, he went on to win the championship at the second attempt. A year later, Vandoorne stepped in as a replacement for the injured two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to make his Formula 1 race debut in the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix, finishing in the points.
The Belgian driver remained with McLaren until he joined HWA Racelab in October 2018. Joined by DTM Champion Gary Paffett, the two made up the team's driver line-up for it's debut season in the all-electric street racing championship.
With HWA transitioning to a full Mercedes-EQ works team in Season 6, Vandoorne partnered rookie Nyck de Vries and steered the Silver Arrow 01 to its first podium at the season-opener in Diriyah, and a maiden race win at the Berlin finale to sign off an impressive campaign for the German marque.
Vandoorne won in Rome in Season 7, as the Silver Arrow 02 proved its worth, and came home ninth in the standings, a podium shy of his teammate and ruing bad luck - particularly Oliver Rowland's wipe out move in London costing the Belgian a podium, and potentially the title.
The pair return for Season 8 to defend their titles.

NYCK 드 DE VRIES [ NYCK DE VRIES, #17 ]
2019/20 was an impressive debut campaign for Nyck de Vries, taking his first podium on the way to the Rookie of the Year honours. It was nothing on 2020/21 though as the Dutchman became Formula E’s first Drivers’ World Champion right at the last, on home soil for Mercedes-EQ in Berlin.
Starting his motorsport adventure at an early age, de Vries first cut his teeth in karting. After winning back-to-back Karting World Championship in 2010 and 2011, de Vries stepped up to single-seater racing in Formula Renault 2.0.
The Dutchman, originally from Sneek, continued his winning ways, culminating in championship wins in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup in 2014. The following year, he raced in the Formula Renault 3.5 series finishing in third place and taking a win in the final race.
De Vries made the jump up to GP3 with ART Grand Prix in 2016. Amongst a talented grid, the Dutchman finished the year in sixth with two wins.
Advancing up the single-seater ladder, de Vries moved up to Formula 2 in 2017 driving for Rapax and then Racing Engineering. He claimed his first victory in Monaco and finished his debut year in seventh. For 2018 de Vries switched to Prema Racing and continued his upward learning curve in the Formula 1 support series with three wins and ending the year in fourth.
Reuniting with ART Grand Prix for the 2019 F2 season, de Vries triumphed against a highly-competitive field to take the championship title with four wins and eight podiums. The same year, he ventured out of open-wheel racing as he joined the World Endurance Championship line-up for Racing Team Nederland.
Before graduating to a full-time drive with the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, de Vries completed rookie tests with Audi, NIO and Envision Virgin Racing.
De Vries' rookie campaign was a season of development and progress, the Dutchman immediately showed his speed with an appearance in the opening Super Pole session in Diriyah and combined this with his first points-scoring finish.
Throughout the season, the Dutchman showed flashes of brilliance but was hampered by teething troubles and rookie mistakes from both the team and the driver's inexperience in all-electric street racing. Their mutual efforts were rewarded in the final race of the season as Vandoorne's first victory was complemented by de Vries finishing in second.
De Vries flew out of the blocks in Season 7 and topped every session on the way to a maiden Formula E race win in Diriyah. From there, it looked a certainty that the talented 26-year-old would be in the mix throughout the series' first campaign as an FIA World Championship.
Another victory would follow in Valencia, with the Dutchman getting it right where many others got it horribly wrong. After that point, though, Mercedes-EQ traversed a tricky spell in mid-season, where de Vries scored just once between Rounds 6 and 11 - with the trip to New York at the end of that patch and a costly mistake in Monaco proving to be his lowest points this season.
A double podium in London propelled de Vries to that Drivers' World Championship lead, but in reality he'd never been far away from that opening weekend onwards. A rollercoaster final couple of rounds i

NIO 333 Formula E Team is the evolution of Team China Racing that carried Nelson Piquet Jr. to claim the inaugural drivers’ championship title in 2015. Dan Ticktum joins the loyal Oliver Turvey for 2021/22, as the pair lead the new-look squad for Season 8.
The team is the racing arm of Chinese car maker NIO - makers of the record breaking EP9 hypercar, which set a new lap record at the Nurburgring in 2017. After winning the title, Nelson Piquet Jn. remained with the team for three seasons, partnered by Oliver Turvey for a second straight campaign. For the 2017/18 season, Italian IndyCar driver Luca Filippi replaced Nelson Piquet Jn, to partner Turvey for the team's fourth season.
The team has had mixed success in the championship, finishing a respectable fourth overall in the 2014/15 season before falling to last place in the championship standings the following year. For the 2016/17 season, the team managed to pull itself back up to sixth before falling back down to eighth at the end of the 2017/18 season. For the 2018/19 campaign, Oliver Turvey remains with the team alongside Frenchman Tom Dillmann. Together, they pilot NIOs striking green and white Gen2 challenger.
A new season brings a new name, as the Chinese team evolves into the NIO 333 Formula E Team. For 2019/20, Oliver Turvey continues with the team and is joined by Ma Qinghua. With Ma unable to complete the season, Daniel Abt was drafted in as his replacement.
Tom Blomqvist joined experienced Formula E campaigner and NIO loyalist Oliver Turvey at the squad for 2020/21, while restructuring in the backroom of the team took place to set things up for its long-term commitment to Gen3 and the future of the championship. It was a season of two halves. Four top ten finishes in the opening four rounds, and another in Valencia set things off nicely, though a mid-season blank amid an increasingly competitive grid saw the British-based outfit finds further points hard to come by - Blomqvist's 10th in the finale was the squad's only other score. A solid foundation and definite progress, ready for more in Season 8 with Dan Ticktum partnering Turvey.

OLIVER TURVEY [ OLIVER TURVEY, #3 ]
After joining the ABB FIA Formula E Championship just in time for the 2014/15 season finale in London, Oliver Turvey has become a long-standing member of the NIO 333 Formula E Team line-up from then until now. He returns in 2021/22 as team leader of the outfit once again.
Turvey started his motorsport career after being taken to a karting event by his father who worked in the car industry and wanted to try something new. He instantly took to it and convinced his family to let him race every week. Soon, his hobby became something more serious when he started taking part in races at his local track.
A few local club championships later and Turvey was told he should think of racing professionally. He made his single-seater debut in the British Formula Renault Winter Series and a year later in Formula BMW UK. The following year, without the backing to race the full season, the British driver had to miss the start of the Formula BMW season.
In 2006, he beat five other finalists to win the prestigious McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award, which led to him making his Formula 1 test debut for the British team in 2009. He remains part of McLaren’s testing roster to this day.
In 2008, Turvey was runner-up to Jaime Alguersuari in British F3, which led to a season of Formula Renault 3.5, during which he scooped victory at Monaco. Despite clinching a win in GP2 Asia, he never had the same success in the main series and in 2012, Turvey moved into GT racing with McLaren. Outside of Formula E, Turvey raced in the Japanese Super GT series in 2015 and 16, as well competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship for CEFC TRSM Racing in the LMP1 class.
Moving to Formula E in 2015, the Brit finished inside the top ten during his debut race. From there, Turvey remained with the Chinese team for a second season in 2015/16. Struggling through with an unpredictable car, his opportunities to shine were limited, but still he managed to make it through to both Super Pole sessions in the London doubleheader. His strong qualifying form continued into the 2016/17 season and he scored his maiden pole in Mexico where he led the race until a mechanical issue caused his car to stop on track. Into his fourth season in the series (2017/18), Turvey looked to clinch his maiden win in the Championship in Mexico after starting on Pole but it wasn't to be. The British driver settled for second behind Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler's Daniel Abt.
For the 2019/20 season, Turvey lined up alongside teammate Qinghua Ma. It was a tough campaign for NIO's stalwart driver, but Turvey still demonstrated his prowess in all-electric single-seaters, with an impressive lap of the gods to put the light blue NIO into Super Pole in Santiago. The race in Chile would be the Brit's best finish, just shy of the points in 11th. However, Santiago marked one of 11 pointless finishes for Turvey as he finished 2019/20 with no points on the board and 24th in the driver standings, his worst finish in six seasons.
Season 7 proved to be a tough campaign for the team, but a backroom restructure should see Turvey and new teammate Dan Ticktum climb the ladder.

Heading into their third ABB FIA Formula E World Championship campaign together, Nissan e.dams will again feature the strong pairing of former-champion Sebastien Buemi and race-winner Oliver Rowland. Nissan will be aiming to place one-step higher in Season 7 after finishing runner-up in the Teams' standings for the last two seasons.
With three Teams' titles to its name, e.dams continues its journey in the series with the Japanese manufacturer.
In its first season, the team managed a second place finish in the Teams' championship after six podium finishes, six pole positions and 16 Super Pole appearances combined by Buemi and Rowland, making Nissan e.dams the best qualifying team in the championship. The team ended the season with its first ever victory during the final race weekend in New York City.
Nissan is the first Japanese manufacturer to enter the series and is a world leader in the design and manufacture of all-electric cars. With over 365,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles sold since the model debuted in 2010, Nissan has made use of its existing EV experience to develop the all-new powertrain for its Formula E race car. In turn, the learnings from the track will shape the next generation of EVs from the Japanese car maker.
Racing for Nissan e.dams is Formula E veteran and former champion Sebastien Buemi alongside British driver Oliver Rowland. Building on their performance last season the pair piloted the team's new 'kimono-inspired' car for 2019/20, after getting off to a slow start, Buemi earned Nissan their first podium at Round 4 in Mexico City with a third-place finish.
The Nissan duo got into their strides in the six-race season-finale in Berlin, Buemi claiming three podiums to his name and Rowland added to this with his debut victory in Formula E. An impressive run of results to allow Nissan e.dams to fire into second in the teams' standings.
Nissan e.dams headed into the 2020/21 campaign looking like one of the form prospects. The Japanese marque made up for lost time last season after its twin-motor solution was outlawed, and ended on a high with Rowland's maiden win in Berlin. Season 7 was a slow burn, with bad luck curtailing front-running pace - certainly for the Brit.
Rowland rounded off with another podium at Tempelhof, adding to silverware in Puebla. Converting a London DNF after a tangle with Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) could well have seen Rowland trouble the standings' top three. A best of fifth in Rome was all Buemi had to show for his lowest points-score in Formula E to-date - he'll certainly be hoping for a brighter Season 8 with young German Guenther set to push him all the way.

Maximilian GUENTHER [ Maximilian GUENTHER, #22 ]
In Maximilian Guenther’s maiden, 2019/20 campaign, the German driver quickly asserted himself by notching his first victory and becoming the youngest race winner in the series' history. For Season 8 he makes the switch to Japanese manufacturer Nissan e.dams, with eyes on assembling a title charge.
Fresh from a season in Formula 2 with BWT Arden, Guenther made his debut in Formula E with Dragon after serving as the team's reserve driver in the 2017/18 season. Prior to joining the championship full-time a year later with BMW i Andretti Motorsport, the German took part in the Formula E Rookie Test in Marrakesh, 2018.
Born in Oberstdorf in 1997, Guenther began his racing career in karts at the age of 10. After three years, the German driver progressed to the world of open-wheel racing in 2011 in the Formula BMW Talent Cup. In 2013, Guenther competed in ADAC Formel Masters from ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V., ending the season second. Guenther made his debut in the 2015 European Formula 3 campaign with Mucke Motorsport before joining Prema Powerteam in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, he finished a respectable fifth at the legendary Macau Grand Prix before moving up to Formula 2 in 2018, joining BWT Arden.
After running as the team's test and reserve driver, Guenther competed in 10 E-Prix with Dragon during his maiden campaign in 2018/19, finishing 17th in the Drivers' running and impressing with two Super Pole appearances.
BMW i Andretti Motorsport took the young Bavarian on full-time in Season 6 and he pipped then teammate Alexander Sims in the Drivers' Championship, finishing ninth, with breakthrough victories in Santiago and Round 8 from Tempelhof. The German's four non-finishes - including the loss of a podium in Diriyah for overtaking under the safety car - ultimately hampered his outright finishing position but his impressive performances yielded a second season with the BMW manufacturer squad in Season 7 - Formula E's first as an FIA World Championship.
For Season 8 the young German star heads to Nissan e.dams alongside Sebastien Buemi, with his focus on a title challenge with the Japanese manufacturer.

Sébastien BUEMI [ Sébastien BUEMI, #23 ]
2015/16 Drivers' champion Sebastien Buemi continues with the Nissan e.dams in Season 8. The Swiss is one of the most successful drivers in ABB FIA Formula E World Championship history, and he’ll be on the hunt for a second title in 2021/22.
Alongside rival Lucas di Grassi, Sebastien Buemi is one of the most successful drivers in Formula E. As one of the series' four champions, the Swiss driver not only has the most wins to his name but an outstanding number of Julius Baer Pole Positions to match.
Starting off with a successful karting campaign in the early stages of his motorsport career, Buemi moved to the German Formula BMW Championship in 2004, finishing third in his debut season - just behind another future Formula 1 driver, Sebastian Vettel. As the points kept on coming for Buemi, so did the opportunities to work his way up the open-wheel classes.
Despite getting his first taste of Formula One machinery at the age of just 15 when he was given the chance to drive an Arrows F1 car, it wouldn't be until 2009 that Buemi would make his Formula One debut. Working his way up to that point with a season in the F3 Euro Series in 2006, he finished 12th overall, before making his debut in GP2 in 2007. By 2009, his break into Formula One arrived after he caught the eye of Toro Rosso, who signed him up later that year, making Buemi the first Swiss driver to race in Formula One since 1995.
He continued to drive for Toro Rosso until the end of the 2011 season when he partnered with Jean-Eric Vergne. Despite not making another competitive appearance for the team, Buemi remains connected to the Red Bull outfit as the reserve driver.
Alongside his Formula E duties, Buemi also competes in the World Endurance Championship with Toyota, winning the world championship in 2014 as well as a first place win in the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hour race.
After bringing home three teams' championship titles for his former team Renault e.dams, Buemi moved with the e.dams squad under the new name of Nissan e.dams for its debut season in Formula E alongside Oliver Rowland. Together, the pair took the team to fourth in the teams' standings, just missing out on a podium position, while Buemi finished second behind Jean-Eric Vergne in the drivers' championship.
Embarking on his sixth season in Formula E, Buemi once again partnered with Rowland. After playing catch-up with development in the opening rounds, Buemi launched his points-scoring campaign with a third-place finish in Mexico City. Alongside Rowland's performance, the Swiss driver's three podium finishes in the six-race season finale in Berlin helped secure Nissan e.dams second place in the Teams' Championship.
A best of fifth in Rome was all Sebastien Buemi had to show for his lowest points-score in Formula E to-date in a disappointing Season 7 - he'll certainly be hoping for a brighter Season 8.

팀 소개
With a history in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship dating back to the first race, ROKiT Venturi Racing clinched its first win in the 2019 Hong Kong E-Prix. The Monegasque team is spearheaded by CEO Susie Wolff, and Formula E race-winner now team principal Jerome D'Ambrosio. These experienced heads will oversee Edoardo Mortara and double champ Lucas di Grassi in the customer Silver Arrow 02.
Founded by the Venturi Automobiles owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor, the team has competed in the all-electric series since the inaugural season in 2014.
After four seasons without a win, the team celebrated its first victory in Hong Kong after Edoardo Mortara secured the top step of the podium in a fraught race on the Harbourfront. The team finished its most recent season in eighth, one place below its standing at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Off-track, the team is the force behind the record-breaking VBB-3 'bullet car,' which set a new world record of 342 miles per hour on the salt flats in Utah, USA in 2016. With the record in hand, the 'bullet car' is still the world's fastest electric vehicle. From its base in Monaco, Venturi designs, develops and manufactures a range of electric vehicles, which benefit from the Formula E team's efforts in the Championship.
Ahead of the 2018/19 season, the team drafted in former racing driver Susie Wolff as Team Principal and ex-Formula One driver Felipe Massa. The Brazilian driver joined Formula E veteran Edoardo Mortara to complete the team's driver line up which remains unchanged ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
For their sixth season in the all-electric racing series, Venturi partnered with Mercedes-Benz EQ to adopt its powertrain - the Silver Arrow 01 - alongside its cooling system, rear frame, rear suspension, dampers, software, onboard electronics and wiring looms.
Tenth overall in the team standings didn't truly reflect Venturi's performance, as Mortara put in a string of solid points-scoring finishes earlier in the season, ruffling the feathers of the factory teams.
Season 7 proved Venturi’s best points haul in Formula E to-date, with 146 points secured by the outgoing Norman Nato and teammate Edoardo Mortara. Mortara finished second in the Drivers' standings in his fourth campaign with Venturi, narrowly missing out at the last in dramatic fashion in the finale at Berlin's Tempelhof Airport Circuit.
A victory in Puebla came alongside podiums in Diriyah and Berlin, with the Swiss-Italian winding up just seven points shy of eventual World Champion Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ) - there was that pass in Diriyah, too. Nato sealed a storming maiden win in Round 15, though the Frenchman will be replaced by Lucas di Grassi in Season 8, with CEO Susie Wolff eyeing consistent points from both drivers in targeting the Teams' title.

Edoardo MORTARA [ Edoardo MORTARA, #48 ]
Edoardo Mortara remains with ROKiT Venturi Racing for a fourth season alongside new teammate Lucas di Grassi. With two seasons using now-title-winning Mercedes-Benz power and tech under his belt, the Swiss-Italian will be aiming to go one better and take top honours, after narrowly missing out in Season 7.
Born in Geneva in 1987, the Swiss driver first stepped up to Formula driving in 2006, starting out in Formula Renault, before graduating to the Formula Three Euroseries. As a former champion in the series, Mortara was one of two drivers to win the prestigious Macau Grand Prix twice, having achieved back-to-back victories in 2009 and 2010.
Moving to the German DTM Championship in 2011, Mortara competed in the series until his debut with Venturi Formula E team ahead of the 2017/18 season. After a promising start to the season when he finished second in Hong Kong in only his second Formula E race, the Swiss driver fell back, finishing the season in 13th place.
Staying on for a second season with the Monegasque team, Mortara was partnered with seasoned race driver Felipe Massa and new Team Principal Susie Wolff in the 2018/19 season. Together, the pair rounded off the season in 14th (Mortara) and 15th (Massa), with the team ranking eighth overall.
In his third season in the series, Mortara once again lined up for alongside Massa. With Venturi now powered by Mercedes-Benz EQ, Mortara took the challenge to the factory outfits in 2019/20. The Swiss driver had some consistent top-ten finishes last season, scoring points in seven of the 11 rounds.

Lucas DI GRASSI [ Lucas DI GRASSI, #11 ]
Lucas di Grassi was the winner of the first-ever Formula E race - the 2014 Beijing E-Prix - and is the most successful driver in the history of the championship. For the 2021/22 season, its pastures new at ROKiT Venturi Racing, after a seven-year association with Audi’s Formula E team came to an end.
Born in Sao Paulo in 1984, Lucas di Grassi was the first driver to commit to the series, playing a founding role in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship alongside the series' Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag. He played a key role in the development of the original prototype car that was used as a proof-of-concept for Gen1, used from the championship's inaugural 2014/15 season. In 2016, he became the first man in history to drive a racing car on the Arctic Ice Cap, when he took a starring role in the incredible Project Ice adventure.
Starting out his motorsport career after driving karts at his uncle's kart shop in Interlagos, di Grassi made his competitive karting debut at the age of 10. A journey up the single-seater ladder, as well as victory in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2005, overall runner-up in GP2 Series and in 2010, a season in Formula 1 with Virgin Racing. In 2012, Lucas di Grassi became an Audi factory driver, clinching three podium finishes in the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans - and he's represented the brand ever since.
The Brazilian has driven for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler throughout his time in Formula E, finishing third in Season 1 before taking the 2015/16 title down to the wire, narrowly losing out to Nelson Piquet Jr. It was third time lucky, though, as he overcame a 10-point deficit to claim the 2016/17 Drivers' title in Montreal.
Heading into the 2017/18 season as reigning champion, di Grassi once again overcame the odds and fought back after a tough start to the season, eventually placing second overall behind TECHEETAH's Jean-Eric Vergne. He took it down to the wire once again in the final round of the 2018/19 campaign, going head-to-head with Vergne for the second consecutive year as well as Nissan e.dams' Sebastian Buemi. Neither managed to put a stop to Vergne's domination, however, with di Grassi rounding off the season in third place.
Di Grassi was one of only three full-time drivers to have finished every race in 2019/20 on the way to sixth in the Drivers' table. His race-pace and combative style netted him the most progress, at just over six positions gained per race, of any driver. Qualifying was a thorn in the side for Audi through Season 6, and limited the Brazilian to two visits to the rostrum. For 2020/21, di Grassi remains with Audi, behind the wheel of its Audi e-tron FE07 - the German marque's first car with an all-new in-house designed and built powertrain.
Away from the circuit, the Brazilian is CEO of the autonomous racing car project Roborace as well as Founder and CEO of his own electric bike start-up in Brazil. Di Grassi lives with his wife and son Leonardo in Monaco, just 200 meters from the start/finish line of the famous race track.
Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler's current run in Formula E drew to a close with a win for its 2016/17 champion Lucas di Grassi on home soil in Berlin. A one-two in Puebla was another big moment as di Grassi steered t

After more than 30 years, Porsche made a return to top-flight single-seater racing in the 2019/20 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The German marque squares up against the best in world motorsport in Season 8, with silverware now under its belt and eyes on the top prize. Andre Lotterer is joined again by Pascal Wehrlein, forming a formidable all-German line-up.
With a motor racing history stretching back to the 1950s, Porsche's entry into Formula E became the latest step in the German manufacturer's history in 2019/20. After its most recent success in endurance racing, including multiple victories in both LMP1 and GT categories, the marque turned to the all-electric racing series to ready the next generation of electric Porsche road cars.
Calling on a decade of experience in hybrid and electrified racing, after the marque launched its first hybrid racing car, the 911 GT3 R Hybrid in 2010, Porsche headed into Formula E to take on the most competitive line up in motorsport. Following its first hybrid race car, the road-going 918 Spyder hit the road in 2015, which in part formed the basis of the 919 Hybrid race car, in which Neel Jani and Andre Lotterer drove in the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Lotterer flew out of the blocks in Round 1 of the 2019/20 season, clinching the Stuttgart manufacturer's first podium with the 99X Electric. This was followed by three none-scores, but Lotterer was still able to showcase the 99X Electric's promise with a pole in Mexico City.
The German marque concluded their debut season with a commendable eighth in the Teams' standings, following Lotterer's podium and a consistent points-scoring run in the final six rounds of the 2019/20 season in Berlin.
With their rookie campaign completed, expectations kicked up a notch but Season 7 was a one of missed opportunities, with infringements costing the team its first Formula E win, via Pascal Wehrlein, in Puebla for one.
Without the double DSQ, the German marque would have been troubling the sharp end of the standings, as both Wehrlein and teammate Lotterer scored consistently through a strong second half of the season. Silverware for Wehrlein in Rome and second for Lotterer in Valencia were the highlights of a season that will encourage the outfit heading into Season 8 - Wehrlein and Lotterer will be keen to improve on 11th and 17th, respectively, in the standings.

André LOTTERER [ André LOTTERER, #36 ]
Andre Lotterer heads into his third season with TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, leading the legendary German marque alongside compatriot Pascal Wehrlein as they battle for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Born in Duisburg in 1981, Andre Lotterer came to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship with a successful background in endurance racing with the works Audi and Porsche teams. His career in the series included three victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the drivers' title of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Lotterer has also competed in the Japanese Super Formula series for over a decade, winning the title in 2011.
Making a name for himself at a young age through success in both German and British Formula 3 championships, Lotterer took on the role of test driver for the Jaguar Formula One team in 2002. Despite this, it wasn't until 2014 that he raced in Formula One for Caterham - replacing Kamui Kobayashi - at the Belgian Grand Prix. Racing for the first time in the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009, Lotterer enjoyed six years racing for Audi Sport Team Joest between 2010 and 2016, in which he picked up three wins and five podiums. Between 2012 and 2017, he also competed in the World Endurance Championship, winning the drivers' title at the end of his first full season. For his final year in the series, Lotterer raced for Porsche alongside Jani, placing fourth overall.
Switching to single-seaters the following year as he made his debut in the all-electric championship, Lotterer struggled to master the series in the initial rounds. Despite this, the German soon earned a reputation as an unforgiving rival after he and teammate Vergne brought home the first one-two finish in the series in Santiago. Two podium finishes for the German driver followed over the course of the season, earning him a place in the top ten overall.
For the 2018/19 season, the German driver remained with the newly named DS Techeetah outfit alongside teammate and reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne. The pair brought home the Teams' Championship title at the end of the season, with Lotterer placing eighth overall.
For his third campaign in the series, Lotterer was reunited with his former endurance racing teammate Neel Jani to challenge for TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team in its debut season.
The charismatic German hit the ground running with Porsche, clinching the maiden podium for the legendary manufacturer in their very first race with second in Diriyah - immediately surpassing Porsche's goals for their debut campaign. A couple of races later he followed this up by claiming the debut Julius Baer Pole Position in Santiago.
Season 6 was a learning year as Lotterer and Porsche's performance ebbed and flowed throughout their first campaign together, ending the season in 8th with two podium finishes.
2020/21 saw Lotterer build on the experience gained in the Porsche 99X Electric as he was joined by new recruit and compatriot Pascal Wehrlein. Lotterer scored consistently through a strong second half of the season with a best of second in Valencia - encouragement as the veteran seeks to improve on 17th in the Drivers’ running in Season 8.

Fresh from the competitive world of DTM, where he became the youngest race winner in German touring car history, Pascal Wehrlein made his debut in Formula E in the 2018/19 campaign. Heading into his fourth season in the championship, and second with TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team - the German will feel now’s the time to seal the marque’s maiden Formula E victory.
Born in Germany in 1994, the German-Mauritian driver started his racing career in karts in 2003. Progressing to the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2012, Wehrlein finished second in the championship that same year to Dani Juncadella.
The following year, Wehrlein made his debut in the DTM at the age of 18 with Mucke Motorsport before switching to rival team HWA in 2014. Here, he became the youngest driver in the series history to claim pole position and win a race on route to 8th in the championship with 46 points to his name. That same year, it was announced that the German driver would act as a reserve driver for the Mercedes-AMG Formula One squad.
In 2015, Wehrlein clinched the DTM championship title with five podiums, one fastest lap and two wins while making his Formula One debut with Manor Racing in 2016. Wehrlein scored his and Manor's only point of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix with a tenth-place finish.
With Manor folding in early 2017, Wehrlein moved to Sauber Formula One team where he scored the team's only points of the season before moving back to the DTM the following year to drive for HWA, where he finished 8th in the championship.
On the first day of Formula E pre-2018/19 season testing in Valencia, Mahindra Racing announced that Wehrlein would partner with Jerome d'Ambrosio for the Indian team's 2018/19 campaign. Over the course of the season, the German driver racked up one podium finish and came painfully close to clinching his maiden victory in Mexico City.
Showing plenty of promise, Wehrlein was signed for another season with the Indian manufacturer, partnering Jerome d'Ambrosio for a second season.
For the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Pascal Wehrlein made the move to TAG Heuer Porsche. It was a story of missed opportunities, with infringements costing the team its first Formula E win, via Pascal Wehrlein, in Puebla for one. Without the double DSQ, the Germans would have been troubling the sharp end of the standings. As it was, Wehrlein settled for 11th in the table.
